What is new media?

New Media is an evolution from Old Media. New media also called social media; the new media are internet-based (Web 2.0) technologies that collectively are characterized by the 5 c's: communication, collaboration, community, creativity, and convergence. Wiki's, Blogs, Face book, MySpace, etc. These are examples of the types of new media that is popular right now. The difference between Old Media and New Media is that newspapers and magazines are all turned paperless, we can now go onto the internet and we are able to read from there.
New Media is easy and fast to use than the Old Media. Based on the article, “Who Needs a TV? I’m Watching on a Laptop,” people begin to watch TV on their laptops instead of television. New Media is mainly connected with network. People go online to download songs, watch dramas, chatting with others, doing research, and so on. New media make people feel more convenience. People can easy to carry them to travel around such as ipod instead of walkman; laptop instead of desktop; an electronic dictionary instead of a cover paper dictionary; digital camera instead of general camera; etc.
